What is for you you the future of Luxury?

Ana Torejon  Director of Harper’s Bazaar Argentina

“Luxury is, for me, sensitivity, excellence and nobility. The future of luxury are the countries that treasure pride and identity. The protagonists of luxury are human beings capable of feeling in every single dimension. Luxury is equality, peace and love.”

Dani Dan Artist

“The future of luxury will be estimated in how much you can get involved with real natural sources.  We are on a process where “BIO” products are adding more and more value. People are beginning to realize that there aren’t that many things in the market that still keep their essence. The over-consuming society we are a part of, is pushing this process further. There will come a day when everything we buy, everything we get will just be but a distant reference of what we use to know as such. In terms of what real luxury will be, I guess it will be something similar as taking a fruit from a tree and feeling its taste.”

Boy Olmi Actor

“Time, lots of time.the sea close to me, the sky streaching upto the horizon.The vegetable garden next to the kitchen next to the table. The mountains and the silence. No advertising billboards interrupting my gaze making fire with my own hands.Five senses alert and awake.Painting, with my own paint, on small pieces of wood brought in by the sea time, lots of time, and space for love.”

Jean Marie Massaud Designer

“To be. To be yourself. Being with others and the world.”

Luxury is the intimate perception and experience of things that turns them from not necessary into indispensable. True elements of luxury rely on the search for beauty, refinement, innovation, purity, the well made, what remains, the essence of things, the ultimate best.

However, the meaning of best product changes throughout time. Today a better product or a luxury product is the one that beyond being beautiful, creative and well made, makes a positive contribution to our planet and to the people.

Sheila Abed Chair Comission of Environmental Lawyer

Luxury is changing. It is not the same. These days it stands for:

AWARENESS, of being part of a society, an ecosystem, a culture, a planet;
COMMITTMENT, to those who are less privileged, to future generations, to other species;
RESPONSIBILITY, towards the environment, towards the people;
RESPECT, for work, for effort, for diversity;
OPORTUNITY to build a better life, to share and receive;
ARMONY with nature, with the landscape, with life;
LOVE to tradition, to others, to oneself;
CHANGE sticking to what it is worth keeping.

Peter Wirth
Ambassador of the advisory board of the most famous hotels in the world

The FUTURE OF LUXURY is a changing definition and tied to our present timing and circumstance. If 100 years ago luxury was having running water and easy transportation, today these are normal comforts and necessities that we don’t even question.

Because of our human nature, always seeking more satisfaction in material assets leaving nature behind, we look for an ideal solution with a high level of comfort without depleting or pemanently damaging our resources.

However because of the rapidly increasing population in the world and the tempting lifestyle ads spreading to who never had the chance of experiencing such “comforts” there is a disequilibrium in the search of “luxury”.

One important and common underlying factor in the “Future of Luxury” is the containing of pollutant and in particular damaging Carbon Emissions. Another important definition of “sustainable luxury” for the future is to “re-discover” nature as it was given to us and to find a balance between comfortable living without permanently damaging our resources for the next 5 generations (old American Indian tradition).
